Carpentry
Overview
The aim of this programme is to provide young people with training in the necessary skills, knowledge and attitude to develop and pursue a career in a trade or in the construction industry.
Course Content
You will learn how to use power and hand tools to complete a limited range of woodwork projects.
You will learn to to draw objects in two and three dimensions to scale, interpret and monitor key elements of technical drawing and produce technical drawings.
You will learn to appreciate the importance of workplace safety. It is designed to develop skills in handling workplace items and safety equipment safely and effectively.
You will learn to communicate verbally and non-verbally in routine everyday tasks, and in work-related tasks
You will learn basic maths concepts and to develop skills which enable effective functioning in personal life, education and the workplace.
You will learn how to use applications in information technology. It is designed to develop skills in data entry, word processing, and using the internet.
You will learn how to use the personal resources at your disposal in order to meet the personal and social demands of the learning and working or community environments.
You will learn to how to participate in the workplace for 2 weeks and how to work effectively in the working environment.
You will develop an achievable career plan based on knowledge of self.
