Overview
Pre-College Skills is a QQI Level 4 (Leaving Certificate equivalent) one-year, full-time course designed to support learners who wish to progress to further education, training, or employment. It provides a solid foundation for those preparing to access QQI Level 5 programmes or explore new career pathways.
Course Content
You will learn to communicate verbally and non-verbally in everyday tasks, in real life and in the workplace.
You will learn to recognise situations where mathematics can be used meaningfully in daily life and learn the mathematical skills to function in the workplace and in your personal life.
You will be able to use applications in information technology and develop skills in data entry, word processing, and using the internet.
You will learn to set personal goals, work in teams, and develop confidence, responsibility, and problem-solving skills for real life and the workplace.
You will learn to use clear and professional English for speaking and writing in a variety of real-life business and workplace situations.
You will learn how to find, evaluate, and use information from books, articles, and online sources to support your learning and assignments
You will learn how physical activity, exercise, and healthy lifestyle choices can improve your fitness, wellbeing, and overall quality of life.
You will learn to recognise situations where mathematics can be used meaningfully in daily life and learn the mathematical skills to function in the workplace and in your personal life.
You will learn to how to participate in the workplace for 2 weeks and how to work effectively in the working environment.
You will learn about Ireland’s culture, heritage, and local attractions while developing the skills to support and guide visitors in a tourism setting.
You will learn about the traditions, lifestyles, and values of different cultures, while exploring how Ireland compares to other countries around the world.
